Funky Buka Afro Caribbean Food history or should I say story started way long back when I was 12years old. The spirit of a good cooking in Africa start in early age. African girls are taught in younger age the importance of a good cook for the family.There is a saying in Africa that „The way to a man’s heart is through a good food“. Girls were taught to cook and also assist the mother in house-keeping and organisation at an early age. It was no wonder that I discovered my passion for cooking earlier. 

I started experimenting with our local herbs and spices as a young girl. Ho my Gosh!, I remember some good and also some of my funny creations😄. It was so much fun and exciting when my creativities gets complimented. With time, I finally discovered the style that works for me, creating extra-ordinary taste, aromatic, colourfully inviting and of course a portion of healthy balance. My moto was“ eat your food as a medicine to avoid eating medicine as food later“. 

Funkybuka Afro Caribbean Food was later established in 2005. We started with a small street food event. The idea was to bring our Authentic West -African cuisine (Organic & Fresh) and our culture to München where we started. We later added a bit of Caribbean spark to it, known that some part of the Caribbean and African share the same cultural traditions. After so much demands from our customers, we expanded our horizon to event catering. We also participated in some big festivals in München and Austria. 

Over the years we have consolidated our menu, experimenting with our diversely African species and herbs to intensify our modern African dishes, such as couscous with peanut-butter sauce, plantain with fried or jolly rice etc. We believe that very good taste needs the right ingredients. Our organic, free from irradiation, fresh vegetables works wonderfully for us to achieve the desired goal. Funky Buka Afro Caribbean Food team remain loyal to our course and continue to expand our horizon in very possible way, bringing the best of West African flavour, organic and fresh dishes to your events.
